In what many may find a bit hard to believe, President Muhammadu Buhari, while responding to questions from state house correspondents after observing Eid Mubarak prayers at Aso Rock, exempts former president Goodluck Jonathan from the ills of his administration, saying Jonathan was a great leader, but was let down by those he trusted.
Buhari also said his administration is doing its best to keep its promises to Nigerians, but pitched blame on some of his appointees whom he said abused the trust reposed in them.
Magu has been under investigation since his arrest and detention earlier in July, over charges centered around corruption and abuse of office.
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which is currently being oversighted by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, under Senator Godswill Akpabio, is also under investigation following allegations of corruption against the Commission's Interim management.
During the interactive session with journalists, the president expressed delight that some stolen assets are being recovered, sold and proceeds put into the single treasury account (TSA), “which is inaccessible to the corrupt persons involved”.
Buhari added that all past and present cases would be fully investigated.
“This is why we put the commission (of investigation) in place,” he said.
