However, the governor can challenge his disqualification if he chooses to appeal against the findings of the screening committee, He said.
Oshiomhole, speaking on Channels Television, said the party’s decision was subject to appeal.
“We are just following our party constitution. We have a screening committee, they turned out a report. And the report is subject to the appeal committee for anyone who chooses to appeal against the findings of the screening committee.
“The purpose of the screening is to take nothing for granted. And until they go through the appeal process, I as the National Chairman cannot comment on it,” Oshiomhole said.
Meanwhile, governor Godwin Obaseki, had said he will not appeal his disqualification from contesting the state's governorship election because the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, has declared that he is the supreme court and ultimate determiner of the fate and future of the party.
In a statement signed by Crusoe Osagie, his media aide, the governor said it would be futile to appeal the outcome.
He said, “We have watched the mockery of democratic process, which Adams Oshiomhole, is administering and superintending over in our great party the All Progressives Congress (APC). It has been an unfortunate, disheartening and dreadful spectacle,” the statement read.
“It is unfortunate that this open show of shame, illegality and travesty of justice is the brand of democracy which Oshiomhole has reduced the APC into.
