Bola Tinubu, the controversial presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said to be fraudulently declared winner of the February 25th presidential election. |
A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the international community to distance themselves from the proposed inauguration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu. Frank labeled the event as illegal and urged the United States of America, United Kingdom, European Union, African Union, and ECOWAS, among others, to refrain from participating or supporting the planned inauguration.
In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, Timi Frank emphasized the importance for the international community to assess the prevailing sentiment in the country and allow all legal proceedings regarding the outcome of the recent elections in Nigeria to conclude before extending their support to any declared winner.
According to the political activist hailing from Bayelsa, the aftermath of the Presidential results declaration would have escalated tensions if opposition leaders hadn't promptly appealed to their supporters to seek redress through the courts, the recognized constitutional means of challenging electoral irregularities.
He stated, "As last-minute preparations for the inauguration of an illegitimate government continue to dominate the political and social landscape in Nigeria, we advise all potential attendees, especially members of the international community, to abstain from participating in such events. An increasing number of Nigerians are dissociating themselves from this grand conspiracy, orchestrated by unscrupulous state actors who employ coercion and manipulation to subvert the will of the people."
Frank criticized the electoral commission and the ruling party for engaging in blatant criminality, including disenfranchising a significant portion of the population and disregarding their own procedures for result declaration. He believed that the last-minute changes were intended to ensure the subversion and suppression of the people's will.
In light of these circumstances, Frank called on the international community, specifically the US, UK, EU, AU, ECOWAS, and others, to maintain their integrity by refraining from any involvement or attendance at the planned inauguration. He urged them to thoroughly assess the country's mood and await the conclusion of legal processes before lending support to any declared winner.
He further emphasized the importance of supporting constitutional democracy, a principle upheld by the US, UK, and EU. Thus, Frank requested that the international community immediately distance itself from any preparations for or attendance at the inauguration until the judiciary expressly determines the will of the people.
Frank, also serving as the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, warned that any congratulatory messages or acceptance shown by representatives of various countries in Nigeria would imply complicity in the disenfranchisement of the Nigerian people and disregard for the democratic values espoused by their respective governments.
He concluded by urging the international community to boycott any invitations aimed at undermining Nigeria's hard-earned democracy and to make their voices heard in demanding that the proper process for declaring a winner be followed and accepted by all Nigerians.
