The world has never been so keen about the United States' Presidential election, and Wednesday's chaos at the nation's capitol, has perhaps, explained why the world was overly concerned.
The US congress met on January 6th, to former certify Mr. Joe Biden's victory in the controversial November 3rd election which saw Democrat candidate Joe Biden, defeat Donald Trump, having surpassed the 270 electoral college votes needed to win the race.
But, Trump has since been fighting hard to no avail, to overturn the results of six swing states, where he claim the outcomes were fraudulent.
A perhaps, last ditch effort to turn things around, ended in chaos as protest organized to put pressure on congress to 'do the right', turned ugly, as protesters believed to be 'pro-Trump, disrupted the certification process after finding their way into the Capitol.
This condemnable act which obviously compounded Trump's problems, grabbed headlines across the media space, as it heavily empowers an already anti-Trump media, to label the incident as an act of 'sedition' by President Trump. But, could all the drama and chaos had been prevented?
Prior to the chaos, Republican Senator Ted Cruz, suggested what he called the 'Third option'. Watch his statement on the House floor in the video below:
However, a statement by vice president Mike Pence, could have stirred a charged crowd into going wild after words probably got to the crowd that the certification will still take place despite concerns of fraud.
Meanwhile, hours after the chaos, the House reconvened to proceed with the certification which has now been completed, with Joe Biden now set to be sworn in as the 46th US president on January 20.
Trump in a statement posted by Dan Scavino, his senior aide, agreed to an "orderly transition" of power early Wednesday morning after Congress voted to certify the results of the presidential election and declare Joe Biden the 46th president of the United States of America.
"Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th," the statement read.
"I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it's only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!".
