President Muhammadu Buhari is well known for his fragility as he continues to struggle with his health since becoming president in 2015. His regular travels to the United Kingdom for treatment, has been of concern to Nigerians who now see the President as a liability, considering the humongous funds budgeted for the Villa annually, while ordinary citizens continue to wallow in abject poverty.
There has been fears that Buhari could fall victim of covid-19 and eventually succumb due to his already fragile health conditions. But while some of those close to him did caught the virus, with his most trusted partner, late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, sadly died of the disease, the President however, has managed to survive the scare, and recently received his covid-19 jab, to bolster his immunity.
The President's recent travel to the UK for treatment, has once again sparked outrage and protests, as he is accused of breaking his own promise of ending medical tourism if elected president, as well as failing to fix the nation's Healthcare system.
While Buhari is still out there, there's also speculation that the President's urget travel to the UK, a few weeks after publicity receiving his covid-19 jab, could be due to the effects of the vaccine.
While this of course, is merely a speculation, Nigerians are not expecting the Presidency to admit the actual cause of Buhari's recent travel, as it could hamper efforts to convince Nigerians to accept the vaccine.
Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, had recently dismissed concerns over the safety of Oxford's AstraZeneca vaccine, saying there was no medicine without its side effect.
She added that from all indications of quality and efficacy, the effectiveness of AstraZeneca vaccine outweigh the risk, as it has already been scrutinised.
Beside the possible effect of the vaccine, Buhari has also been reportedly suffering from dementia, and is unable to run the government by himself, according to a presidential source.
"Buhari is in a state of dementia and most times don't even remember the instructions passed out and the cabal around him capitalizes on this to commit atrocities and massive corruption," the source disclosed as per SaharaReporters.
