The controversial victory and certification of Mr. Joe Biden as the next and 46th President of the United States, has caused disaffection among millions of Trump supporters who felt betrayed by their Republican Representatives whom they accused of not doing enough to support the President's push for a bipartisan investigation into his allegations of fraud in the last election.
President Trump had in a video statement released Thursday night, following January 6th violent protest at the United States Capitol, said he has exhausted all avenues of his election challenge is committed to a "smooth, orderly, and seamless transition of power."
"My campaign vigorously pursued every legal avenue to contest the election results," Trump said calmly, as he spoke from the White House.
"My only goal was to ensure the integrity of the vote. In so doing, I was fighting to defend American democracy."
"Now, Congress has certified the results. A new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th," Trump said. "My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly, and seamless transition of power."
He then added, "This moment calls for healing and reconciliation."
Joe Biden had similarly advocated for unity in his victory speech last November, while addressing crowds at a drive-in rally in his home city of Wilmington, Delaware, saying "this is the time to heal in America."
However, following last Wednesday's incident, those nice words of unity and healing were put to the test, as Biden and the rest of the democrats including house speaker Nancy Pelosi, addressed Trump supporters as "domestic terrorists".
“Don’t dare call them protesters,” Mr. Biden said in remarks from Wilmington, Delaware. “They were a riotous mob. Insurrectionists. Domestic terrorists. It’s that basic. It’s that simple.”
But the unity and healing did not stop there. A well coordinated crackdown on President Trump and his supporters followed as the president and his allies were kicked out of Facebook, Twitter, services by Google, and several other platforms.
All these actions by the left is believed to further create division, and deepen the wound, Joe called for healing.
To give a better picture of the mood right now among Trump's supporters, Nannette Sue, a Trump supporter, said in a comment on facebook, "I’ve never hated anyone like I hate the Dems and RINOs right now. Never knew I was capable of such hate."
Cheryl Harris, reacted to the news of Twitter's permanent ban on Trump's account, and the crackdown on his allies alongside the banning of Parler, saying, "We have become what the founding fathers hoped would never happen. A few running a nation. Miss Liberty is weeping right now, and America is on it’s knees. We have been silenced, canceled, and destroyed."
How Biden hopes to deal with this self-inflicted mess, is better left to the imagination.
