Northerners calling me infidel have never condemned Boko Haram, says Aisha

Rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has lambasted some northerners who are threatening to kill her for fighting against injustice under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Aisha said that Boko Haram are there in the North killing innocent people but those northerners failed to condemn their evil activities, instead they are seeing her as their enemy for standing for justice.

In an interview with Sunday PUNCH, the rights activist affirmed her determination to fight for justice no matter the amount of threat she received, adding that she is not afraid of death.

She said, "I am not afraid for my life; we are all dead in Nigeria. Is this life? Today, there is nobody living in Nigeria; we are all surviving. What we have here is not life. Come on, we are all going to die anyway.

"I was 10 years old when I came to the realisation that the worst thing any human being could do to me was to kill me and it is not really the worst thing because I would die anyway. I am 46 now and will be 47 in December so I am not threatened by some people with misplaced priorities, who do not know their enemies.

"With all the killings going on in the North, which one of them has ‘called out’ (to draw critical attention to someone’s unacceptable behaviour) President (Muhammadu Buhari), who has failed woefully to secure lives and property or condemned Abubakar Shekau (Boko Haram leader), but they feel Aisha Yesufu is their enemy.

Aisha had earlier lamented that her fellow Muslims rain curses on her in the mosque.

She said the resentments she now suffers is due to her involvement in the widespread End SARS protests.

The activist made the disclosure on her Twitter handle.

According to Yesufu: ”Heard I am being cursed in mosques! People finish praying and take time out to curse me in their prayers.

“I have asked they should please let me know how many of these curses they rained on me when I was making the same demands during GEJ! We are all already cursed in Nigeria.”
