President Muhammadu Buhari has been under pressure to sack the nation's service chiefs for failing to improve the security situation in country since their appointments.
Although the president has repeatedly expressed disappointment that the security challenges in the country are yet to be brought under control, he however, said he remained confident in the capabilities of his security chiefs.
Umahi in a statement at the ground breaking ceremony of Nigeria Army Reference Hospital, Abakaliki, called on the President to rather increase the funding and logistics of the military instead of yielding to demands asking for the sack of service chiefs.
He said, “The Chief of Army Staff needs cooperation and information so that they can do their work.
“We should increase the funding and logistics of the Army to aid their performance, rather than changing them.
“Let me thank the President for finding Ebonyi fit to site this project. Ebonyi is very lucky with the Army. We will continue to partner you.
“We expect him, the Chief of Army Staff to Commission the internal roads we did for the Army.
“The new GOC is more like a brother; we want to thank you and appreciate you for being an Ebonyi man.
