I cheated Edo people in 2016 by making Obaseki Governor — Oshiomhole

Former Governor of Edo State and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has said he cheated Edo State people by bringing Obaseki to power. He said Ize-Iyamu who is a pastor, was a far better candidate than Obaseki, but he decided to sell a bad product to a people who deserved better.

Oshiomhole said he had hoped making Obaseki Governor would ensure the continuation of his good legacies, his projects and programmes, but alas, it was a grave mistake.

Oshiomhole stated these on Sunday at the Government Reservation Area, Benin, while addressing members of the APC, according to a report by Punch.

He said, "Obaseki is MoU (Memoranda of Understanding) governor, but Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is a man of God, who will ensure good governance in Edo State from November 12 this year.

"I have made honest mistakes. Only God is perfect. I am now 68 years old. I have come to apologise for the error of supporting Obaseki in 2016. I am in Edo State to repair my mistakes.

"Obaseki has abused the trust of the Edo people. With our permanent voter cards, we shall punish Obaseki on September 19. Ize-Iyamu will not repeat the mistakes of Obaseki. Ize-Iyamu will take Edo State to the next level."

The former APC National Chairman has previously said Governor Obaseki was a mistake he wants to correct, and is not going away until his mission is complete.

Oshiomhole while addressing party faithful and supporters at a welcome home rally at Iyamho in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state, told the crowd that his immediate task now is to ensure victory for the party on September 19.

“I have come home for only one project, I am not going back to Abuja until the project is completed. I came back home not to rest, but to work. We are political lions, we must commit ourselves to returning Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to Osadebe Avenue," he said.
