The hatred president Muhammadu Buhari has attracted from some of his base in the North over failure to live up to expectations since coming to power in 2015, would make you question how he's managed to win a second term in office following last year's presidential election.
The president has made lots of outrageous promises which even his base knew would be nearly impossible to fulfill. One of such promises was to defeat Boko Haram within six months of becoming president. However, 5 years since replacing Jonathan, Nigeria's security challenges seemed to have worsen.
Now, Katsina residents are expressing their angst against the inability of the Buhari administration to address the security situation in the state, and have set the President's campaign billboard ablaze, according to a post shared by Abdallah Muhammad on a Facebook group 'APC AGENDA'.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has disclosed that the Nigerian Army fighting insurgency in the North-East, has recorded remarkable success within two months even as the country battles covid-19 pandemic.
He said, "The troops are putting in their best and that has resulted in the tremendous successes we are recording. The fight is still ongoing and over 1,429 of this Boko Haram ter*orists have been neutralised and we have arrested over 166 Boko Haram ter*orist informants, their spies, couriers on logistics and their coordinators in the villages, the towns and even the forest.
“Surely military operations are carried out with plan and the overall plan is to rid the whole of the North-West and other emerging threats that are coming up in other parts of the country especially the North-Central and some areas that hitherto have been quiet.
