Reports in circulation concerning the secret burial of over 100 people in Kano State who died from a yet to be disclosed circumstance, has finally attracted the attention of the Kano State government.
In a press statement released on Monday 20th, through the State's minister of health, a formal investigation will be carried out to verify the claims, and possible cause of deaths should the investigation discover the information in circulation to be valid.
Our initial numbers sourced from a Facebook user Maryam Shetty, puts the body count at 61. But a more detailed information puts the body count at about 119.
According to the additional information, 61 bodies were buried in Dan Dolo Cemetery, 31 buried in Court Road cemetery, and 27 were buried in Farm Cente cemetery yesterday Sunday 19th.
The press release by the Kano State ministry of health through it's Information Officer, Hadiza M. Nnamadi, reads below;
The attention of Kano State Ministry of health has been drawn to a post being circulated on social media platforms on purported death of number of people within two days and buried in some cemeteries within Kano metropolis.
the state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, hereby assured the general public that investigation into the matter is ongoing verify the claim and possible causes of the deaths.
Dr. Tsanyawa also assured that the public will be informed on the outcome of the investigation in due course.
