Vice president Yemi Osinbajo has found himself in a precarious situation where his position as vice president is said to be under some sort of threat.
While he (Osinbajo) has on several occasions dismissed claims of rift between himself and President Buhari, the Southwest are still worried that his influence in the ruling government has waned drastically, thus, rendering him nothing more than an "errand boy".
In defense of the vice president, an APC youth group in Remoland, Ogun State under the aegis of Remo APC Youths, described Osinbajo as an upright man with an “unblemished integrity.”
Speaking via its coordinator, Adetowubo Adebayo, the group warned desperate cabals who are hell-bent on stripping Osinbajo of “his garment of honour”, and cloth him with disgrace and humiliation, to desist from their evil schemes for the sake of peace.
Adebayo during the group's solidarity demonstration in Abeokuta, expressed concern that there was campaign of calumny against Osinbajo over the 2023 presidency.
He said Osinbajo, over the years, has shown his leadership capacity in piloting the affairs of Nigeria alongside President Muhammadu Buhari. He, however, warned the “evil perpetrators” to desist from actions that could trigger unrest in the country.
“There are coordinated attacks at bringing down our man, the pride of Ogun State, from the seat he occupies. We unequivocally state that the vice president is an upright man with unblemished integrity, and he would not have indulged in corruption that can bring his hard earned name into disrepute.
“It is quite appalling that the desperate cabals are behind this mischievous act of calumny to strip the vice president of his garment of honour. We are happy the guerrilla campaign holds no water in the face of right thinking Nigerians, who have stood in solidarity with him,” he said.
