PEPT Ruling: Forgery has been officially legalized in Nigeria — Ekpa

Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has ruled against Atiku's petition challenging Buhari's victory in last election.

The final verdict has been passed following the complete dismissal of Atiku's petition by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. Buhari still remains president against all odds despite the belief by many that Atiku has established a case capable of sacking a seating president for the first time in Nigeria's history.



While critics are about to have issues from today's ruling by the Tribunal, one of many issues that'll remain in the spotlight for years to come, is the Tribunal's basing it's decision on Buhari's certificate on presumption, and the claim that differences in names of the president as pointed out by the petitioner, does not matter.

Simon Ekpa in his reaction to the ruling said, the Nigerian judiciary has officially legalized forgery.




He said, "So, the Judiciary in Nigeria has legalised forgery! The people to pay the price of the wordings of the Tribunal judgement are ordinary Nigerians."

"The Judge said in the reading that “the question about whether the name in the certificate is MOHAMMED or Muhammadu doesn’t matter so long as there is Buhari attached to the name” this is ridiculous! This single view from the Judiciary will put every single document from Nigeria to questionable."


"It means that Mr. Okorocha Rochas can use documents belonging to Mr. Rachel or Rochal Okorocha so long as there is Okorocha attached to it, Nigeria is doomed! This is the reason all documents from Nigeria is subjected to a lot of verification process before it can be accepted internationally."

In his own reaction on Twitter, Reno Omokri said its a shame that President Buhari’s ambition to remain in power has led to the pervasion of justice which will haunt the nation in years to come.

Atiku's next line of action is yet to be known, but should he reject today's ruling, his next destination is probably the Appeal Court.
