The President of the United States, Donald Trump, may have been a subject of discuss by both loyalists and critics within and outside the US, and for reasons that are both legitimate and ridiculous depending on which of the two sides you belong, the president however, seem undeterred as he pursues the "unpopular agenda" as critics would say, but which the president believes is for the best interest of the American people.

If you've been following the latest trends coming from the US, you by now, should be very much aware that thousands of abortion rights activists across the United States who feel their "reproductive rights" are being trampled upon by the recent wave of anti-abortion laws passed in several states including Alabama, Mississippi, Ohio and Missouri, took to the streets in protest.

About 50 organisations, are responsible for the #StopTheBans protests including the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL) Pro-Choice America and American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), according to Aljazeera.

"We are seeing a new wave of extreme bans on abortion, stripping away reproductive freedom and representing an all-out assault on abortion access," organisers said in a statement.

"This is Trump's anti-abortion extremism and it's terrifying, particularly for communities of colour and low-income communities who are most affected by these bans."

Trump is "Strongly Pro-life"

The recent ban on abortion has become the subject of heated debates across many platforms and Trump himself has been vocal about it.

In his typical fashion, the president has made his position clear thanks to a recent post shared on his official Facebook page. Trump said in clear terms and not to be misquoted, that, "I am Strongly Pro-life".

His full post reads;

"As most people know, and for those who would like to know, I am strongly Pro-Life, with the three exceptions - Rape, Incest and protecting the Life of the mother - the same position taken by Ronald Reagan. We have come very far in the last two years with 105 wonderful new Federal Judges (many more to come), two great new Supreme Court Justices, the Mexico City Policy, and a whole new & positive attitude about the Right to Life. The Radical Left, with late term abortion (and worse), is imploding on this issue. We must stick together and Win for Life in 2020. If we are foolish and do not stay UNITED as one, all of our hard fought gains for Life can, and will, rapidly disappear!"

Irrespective of which side of the abortion argument you're on, it appears the America people are clearly divided on whether or not a fetus can be regarded a" human" since it, according to pro-abortion activists, is simply "a mass of cells". Interestingly, the division also reflects the political divide between Democrats and Republicans, with the latter being Pro-life.

The fact that Trump is still confident of winning re-election in 2020 speaks volumes that his base share his views on abortion, and are in support of his policies im general. It's also likely that other indices working in his favor especially the performance of the economy since he replaces Obama, could attract more support from the other side of the divide.
