In line with our report yesterday on heavy voter suppression happening in several northern parts of the country, particularly in areas likely to favor the presidential candidate of the Labor Party, Mr Peter Obi, it appears attempts to suppress votes for the Labor Party candidate is not happening in the North alone, after a female National Youth Service Corps member was reportedly caught manipulating and changing the votes of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to New Nigeria Peoples Party candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The said corps member who is a presiding officer in Saturday’s General elections in Enugu State, is alleged to have come from Kano State.
According to reports, the incident happened in one of the polling units in Abakpa Ward, a densely populated town in Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
She was reportedly caught by eagle-eyed agents of LP, who quickly raised the alarm about the unwholesome act of the presiding officer.
Immediately, she was reportedly circled by a mob before security agents in the polling unit intervened and stopped what could have been a tragedy.
A viral video of the incident seen by our correspondent, on Sunday, shows the NYSC member apologising, even as she confessed that all the corps members from northern Nigeria participating in the election in South-East were told to manipulate results in favour of the former Kano State governor.
In the video, a result sheet was seen showing mutilated vote scores of the LP presidential candidate.
When LP party agents caught her she admitted saying “I am aware of the full consequences of my action and I am ready to take any punishment. I am sorry, this is what I was told to do.”
