Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has made it clear that he is by no means inferior to other presidential candidates vying for the presidency, and will not tolerate being ridiculed or pressured into quitting.
There have been speculations that the former Kano State Governor would step down from the presidential race for the candidate of another party before the 2023 elections.
Kwankwaso had wanted to coalesce with the Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, in hope that the growing popularity of the LP candidate would boost his chances of winning the next presidential election.
However, the two parties, LP and NNPP, couldn't reach an agreement as neither candidates of the two parties would accept to play second fiddle.
Although, Kwankwaso's chances of defeating the top three contenders in the next election, is very slim, he nevertheless, believes he has what it takes to emerge victorious.
In a statement through his campaign spokesperson, Mr. Ladipo Johnson, and made available to newsmen in Lagos, Johnson said: “Kwankwaso is in the race to win.”
According to him, Kwankwaso has all it takes to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2023 presidential election.
He said, “I do not know how people come up with these assertions and speculations. Kwankwaso cannot and will not step down for any candidate.
“Kwankwaso is not in the race to negotiate. He has the capacity, track record for competence and the political will to lead Nigeria to greater heights”.
