They reward Nigerians with poverty — Gumi slams leaders in the country

Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has described as worrisome, the insensitivity of Nigerian leaders whom he said have forgotten how they found their ways to power.

Gumi who made the statement on Tuesday in a State of the Nation broadcast aired by Channels Television, said the many challenges facing the country is the result of imbalance in the country.

He said while Nigerians trust leaders in the country with their votes, they are however rewarded with poverty, while those they elected to power live in luxury, moving around in private jets.

“We have made available to hold whoever has any ambition or interest in our country. We have made available for him soldiers he can conscript to his own interest, readily available.

“So why do we leave our children uneducated? Why is not education for everybody? Why do we leave our population poor? Some Nigerians are riding private jets when some Nigerians don’t know where to put their children in school.

“On the social justice, if you go to the court system, justice is not there. There is a portent cutdown of power. Normally, what I mean by power, the firebrick of power is broken down whether at the federal, the state or local government. So children are there to be used by anybody,” the cleric stated.
