No few than five herdsmen have been killed with 19 others missing following an attack by bandits who invaded Plateau State in North-Central Nigeria.
While confirming the incident to AIT.live in Jos on Saturday, Plateau State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, Mohammad Nura, said the incident occured in Mangu Local Government Area while the herders were attending to their cattle.
Nura, also declared several other herders missing after the attack, adding that they escaped into the bush leaving their cows behind.
Spokesperson of the Military Special Task Force “Operation Safe Haven”, Major Ishaku Takwa, confirmed the attack and said officers have trailed the bandits to the bush where they recovered the bodies of the victims.
