Trouble could be brewing within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), over the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the party presidential candidate, and also the choice of former Borno State Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima, as running mate despite both being from same Islamic faith.
Tinubu's victory in the APC presidential primary which took place in June, was not well received by some of the aspirants who refused to step down for another candidate during the primary.
The feeling of foul play during the primary, has left some aspirants feeling disappointed and betrayed, and unwilling to support Tinubu whom they accused of manipulating the process.
The choice of Kashim Shettima who is a Muslim, has also caused fracture within the party.
With the PDP already in crisis over Atiku Abubakar's emergence as the party's flag bearer in the next presidential election, the APC is reportedly in panic mode and trying to avoid a crisis that would jeopardize its chances of winning the next election.
According to Daily Sun, all presidential aspirants who lost or drop out of the primary election, are set to converge in Abuja where a number of issues are to be addressed.
Some of these issues according to sources familiar with the matter, include the outcome of the APC primary, the choice of Shettima as running mate, chances of the party in the next election, and other pressing issues.

Five serving governors, comprising Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Ben Ayade (Cross River) and Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) will also be in attendance.
