The vice presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Kashim Shettima, has a word for fearful Nigerians who dread an Islamic presidency, the first of its kind in the history of the country.
Shettima who's selection as Tinubu's running mate for next year's presidential election, became the subject of uproar by a section of the public, said Tinubu's presidency will be a blessing to the country, and that there is nothing to fear.
He said the fear over the APC's all Muslim ticket is unwarranted, adding that it only proves that other parts of the country need to learn from the southwest who are known for their generosity and religious tolerance.
He also called on other regions to learn to judged people by the content of their character, competence and ability, adding that such attitude is necessary if the country must progress.
“We need to build a new nation because the hope of the black man is on Nigeria. The onus is on us to secure the future of our children yet unborn,” he said on Tuesday at the one-year memorial service held in honour of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s late father, Dr. Emmanuel Abiodun, at the St. James Anglican Church, Iperu-Remo, Ogun State.
The former Borno State Governor assured Nigerians the Tinubu administration if elected, would be all-inclusive “because no society can strive on injustice. Ours will be all encompassing, all embracing government.”
“We will build a country of our dreams where people are judged by their character irrespective of their political affiliations, religious persuasions, sectional or tribal ground,” he promised.
