Not that Nigerians aren't used to epileptic power supply from as long as can be remembered, neither is the nation's recent electricity system collapse, the first of its kind. But when you think of all that has been done in an attempt to fix the nation's power crisis over the years, you begin to wonder if at all, there's hope for the Nigerian power sector.
In his own words while reacting to the recent power crisis in the country, Senator Ben Murray Bruce, laments the 'poor state of power across the country', as well as the crippling fuel crisis Nigerians have had to deal with at the same time.
He said,"I am appalled at the recently poor state of power across Nigeria, coupled with the crippling fuel crisis. Nigerians are really suffering, and this reality breaks me each time. I urge the government to prioritise the comfort of Nigerians."
Also reacting on the development, a netizen, with the name, Happy Man, said suffering has become part of the Nigerian life, hence why things only seem to go from bad to worse on a regular basis.
"Nigerians are comfortable with suffering that's why they have failed to hold public office holders accountable. They should have set example with one," he commented.
Chima Eneh, also added his voice saying, "I strongly believe that there is a place in our constitution that says that government must make sure Nigerians suffer at all cost."
Senator Bruce is well known for his advocacy for electric cars in Nigeria, and another commenter, Ifeanyi Ogbodo, made sure to remind him about it.
"His excellency, Now you see why the electrical car can not work in nigeria," he said.
As power failure persists in the country, others believe there's a touch of politics to it, considering the country is currently in a political season ahead of next year's general elections.
