Two people were killed while a Catholic priest, Father Joseph Akeke, was abducted by bandits at the Kudenda community in the suburb of Kaduna metropolis.
Locals in the community said the bandits came in a large number and attacked the area around 1am yesterday.
According to the sources, “The operation ended around 2:30am. Those killed were the local security guard at the Reverend father’s house, and another resident, while a woman and her two children were abducted alongside the man of God.”
“We couldn’t sleep last night due to tension and gunshots,” he said.
Police spokesman Mohammed Jalige said he would find out the details.
Stern-looking security operatives were seen in the area while law-abiding citizens continued with their activities without any molestation.
Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State, Rev Joseph John Hayab confirmed the development saying “Yes, it happened around 1.30am.”
