A former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani, has accused the Nigerian government of working in tandem with terror groups in the country, to afflict the very people they were elected to protect.
Sani who has been a critic of both the Buhari and Kaduna State government under Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has severally, condemned the atrocities being committed by armed person's mostly identified as herdsmen, in the southern part of Kaduna State.
Speaking in a post on Twitter, Sani express his angst over the precarious and hopeless situation victims of terror attacks and kidnapping have been subjected to under the current government.
The dilemma of our people living in the villages is that if they cooperate with the security forces, they will face the wrath of the terrorists and if they cooperate with the terrorists, they will face the wrath of the security forces. There’s consequences either ways.

He said victims of attacks have been warned against reprisal or self-defence, but at the same time, not guaranteed of safety by the government who restrained them from doing so. This he said, has left the people in a state where their enemies are both those who attack and kill them at will, and the Nigerian government who denied them the right to defend themselves.
"The dilemma of our people living in the villages is that if they cooperate with the security forces, they will face the wrath of the terrorists and if they cooperate with the terrorists, they will face the wrath of the security forces. There’s consequences either ways," he said.
The former Kaduna State Senator, has previously criticized the Buhari government for its refusal to both expose and prosecute terrorism sponsors in country, saying not doing so would mean the Nigerian government will take full responsibility for the horror and tragedy Nigerians experience every day of their lives.
He said, “If the Nigerian Government can’t expose the sponsors of terrorism, then it can’t absolve itself from the horror and tragedy our people experience every day of their lives.”
