Another day another political drama as each passing day, means the day Nigerians so eagerly await, to correct whatever mistakes they may have made back in 2015, is finally becoming a reality.
But while we wait, the list of Buhari's potential successor is not exactly what someone who endured 8 years of 'torture' under the current government, would want to look at, and not become faint-hearted.
The list contains mostly the very same politicians whom Nigerians believe are part of the problem, and should have retired long ago, but who only seem to habor even bigger political ambitions regardless of public sentiments.
One of these political figures, who doesn't seem to be well received by most of the public, is the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu's dilemma however, is not even what the public think about him and his ambition. He already made it clear during his declaration to run for the presidency, that what the public think of his decision to run, means nothing to him.
“Whatever is your attribute is your own opinion. Me, I want to pursue my ambition without the title of a kingmaker. You can write your literature and your story based upon your own perception,” he said when asked by journalists why he was not satisfied remaining a kingmaker rather than wanting to be president.
So from his response, it is obvious that Tinubu is less worried about public opinions. His most biggest headache however, will undoubtedly be his Northern political rivals who seem to be as interested and ambitious as he is about becoming the nation's president in 2023.
According to report by PM News, some lawmakers of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in all the Houses of Assembly in the North-East region, want power to remain in the North for another four years.
While justifying their call in a communique which was signed by Alhaji Sadique Ibrahim, and issued at the end of their extraordinary meeting on Thursday in Bauchi State, the lawmakers stated that, “This is because the North will have ruled for 10 years at the end of President Buhari’s tenure, while the South has ruled the country for 14 years.”
The lawmakers had met under the aegis of Conference of Nigeria State Legislatures, North-East zone and also passed a vote of confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari and the Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee of the party.
The APC is expected to hold its national convention in February, where the position of the party on crucial issues, including zoning, is expected to be decided.
Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has opted to wait until the APC convention is over, before making public, his position on whether or not he'll run for the presidency in 2023.
