HOUSE ON FIRE: Bello could dump APC over pressure to sacrifice ambition for Tinubu

The reason for Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State's decision to not declare his presidential ambition until after the party's national convention in February, may have finally come to light.

Bello had in the past week, said he's under pressure to contest for the presidency, but hinted he's yet unsure of the platform he'd be contesting for the election.

“We are looking forward to the convention of our great party and by the grace of God, I will declare. But we must have a platform to run on," Bello told journalists in Lokoja, the state capital.

Some powerful political figures within the APC, including the party's national chairman, Bola Tinubu, have since made their intentions public, with the most recent being Senator Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.

Bello's decision to wait until after the party's convention is over, is however, a bit odd.

But thanks to Architect Umar Mohammed Ibrahim, who was a former Commissioner of Housing in Bauchi State, and is the Director General of Tinubu Support Group (TSG), the truth behind Bello's hesitation may have been laid bare.

According to Ibrahim, Governor Bello is expected to sacrifice his presidential ambition for Tinubu's.

"Don’t be surprised tomorrow if you see Governor Yahaya Bello denouncing his Presidential ambition. Don’t be surprised," he told New Telegraph.

"What has Yahaya Bello done in Kogi State as young as he is? I believe he is the youngest governor. What has he got to put on the table in Kogi State? We wouldn’t want such a person to rule this country," he added.

Not only Bello that is expected to make the sacrifice, however. According to Ibrahim, Tinubu has been the man behind every APC member who occupied and still occupies different political positions across the country, and therefore should be respected.

"This man has been behind every APC member contesting or declaring for positions. And they have all succeeded. Why won’t they come and put their hands together and concede that ticket to Asiwaju?

"Ask Yahaya Bello. He was solidly behind him. He was one of the main pillars that actually helped him to become governor again.

"If we have somebody like Asiwaju contesting, for goodness sake, why will any other APC member come and declare again? Why would they? On what account? Who has suffered the way this man has suffered? Who has built the APC? Who has built the nation?" he questioned.
