Just In: ISWAP compounds North's security woes with yet another attack along Damaturu/Maiduguri highway

Buhari's Government is struggling to contain the spite of insecurity in the Northeast.

Fighters of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), has once again, abducted an unspecified number of passengers along Damaturu/Maiduguri highway, thus compounding the nation's security woes.

According to Daily Trust, citing a security source, the travelers were heading to Maiduguri in Borno State from Damaturu in Yobe, when the attack occurred.

“Yes, there was an attack on motorists this morning along Damaturu/Maiduguri highway, these senseless people abducted an unspecified number of passages around Benishiek and Mainok axis. We don’t have more details than this.” the source said.

“Yet another abduction in Damaturu -Maiduguri route this morning. Why can’t we have a sustainable solution to this reoccurring misfortune?” Chairman Northeast Network of Civil Organization, Amb Ahmed Shehu, queried as he confirmed the incident.

Similar attack on travelers was carried out in Sokoto State by bandits along Sabon Birni-Isa road in Sokoto last Monday, leading to the deaths of over 30 people who were heading to Kaduna en route to southern part of the country.
