Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, might just be another Buhari in the making by shocking Nigerians to emerging as the next President in 2023.
Like Buhari, Rochas has made several failed attempts at becoming President, and is believed to be ready to give it a shot one more time, especially now that the South is demanding for a power shift from the North, and the South-East demanding that the next President comes from the region.
While where the next president comes from still remains a bone of contention, a coalition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups across the Northern part of the country, is pitching its tent with Okorocha.
The group which has launched a major campaign for the realisation of the Presidential ambition of the former Imo state governor, has said no living Nigerian, in recent times, had equalled the contributions of Okorocha towards the development of the North.
This assertion was made by the National Coordinator of the Coalition, Sadiq Abubakar, at Menna Event Centre, Kano State.
He said that Okorocha, through his Foundation, had touched the lives of Northerners by establishing free schools in Kano, Zaria, Sokoto, Bauchi, Jos and Adamawa States for orphans and children of the less privileged members of the Northern society.
He added that it was noteworthy that in these schools, uniforms were issued free of charge to students while feeding and shelter were extended to them without a fee.
While reminding his audience that Okorocha fluently speaks the Hausa language, he noted that ‘the North trusts Okorocha, particularly because the unity of Nigeria is guaranteed in his hands.
"He is a unifying figure between the North and the South due to his understanding of the cultures of the people of the North and the people of the East," he added.
