A group based in the United Kingdom, is begging Nigerians to give National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, the chance to rule the country in 2023.
The group Nigeria Diaspora for Asiwaju (NDA), said Nigeria has suffered from bad leadership for many years, and is in dire need of Tinubu to turn things around, and save the country from collapse.).
Director-General of the newly inaugurated support group, Dr Akin Badeji, said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
Badeji, who is a UK -based chieftain of the APC, said “Tinubu stands out as one politician with the best résumé to consolidate on the next level milestones of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
“NDA is a partisan group aimed at garnering support in the Diaspora and across the length and breadth of Nigeria for Tinubu presidency, come 2023,” Badeji said.
He said the group which had its headquarters in London, UK, and a country office in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), would not rest on its oars until it achieved its desire of enthroning a Tinubu presidency.
“We looked around for such personality with the political clout and national appeal to the various interest groups, that can consolidate on whatever achievements the Buhari government has made.
“And we discovered that one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leaders, Tinubu, is the best man for the job.
“As a bridge-builder with a great personality and mentality that recognises all and sundry, there cannot be a better replacement for President Buhari come 2023,” he said.
Meanwhile, while Tinubu continues to get support from some quarters, the overall feeling in the country is not in his favor.
Tinubu's chances of becoming president is not only threatened by his waning popularity in the APC. Hatred for the APC due to Buhari's failure to unite the country, his age and fragile health is also a major factor turning Nigerians against him.
To further confirm that the Party Tinubu help put together is now against him, recent report by New Telegraph, citing sources close to Tinubu, claims the APC Leader is considering plan B should Buhari fail to fulfill his own part of the bargain by making him the APC presidential flag bearer during the party primaries next year.
According to them, “we have thought of all these. We know what is going on in the presidency. If Buhari allows the prediction of some people that he will betray Tinubu to come to pass, then we will move to another party to actualise our aim.”
The sources said that fairness dictates that ‘one good turn deserves another,’ adding that Tinubu is the most qualified for the office of the president in the country at the moment and that he is unstoppable in 2023.
The sources posited that “Tinubu would turn Nigeria around the way he laid the foundation for a new Lagos from 1999 to 2007,” and that “posterity will judge if Tinubu actually means well for Nigeria.”
