Just In: Even election riggers claim their victory comes from God — Zagga blasts Fani Kayode

A Plateau State based journalist, Na-Allah Mohammed Zagga, has blasted Fani Kayode for using God to validate his decision to return back to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a part he once swore never to be a part of, and described as 'filty, rat infested sinking ship, and Almajiri Peoples Congress.'

Although Kayode said the APC he once criticized is no longer the same, Nigerians including media houses, have been looking back at Kayode's past statements, and making mockery of him. In fact, some believe Fani Kayode has earned himself the title of being Nigeria's greatest political hypocrite in recent times.

Zagga in his own reaction to the latest development, said while he has no issues with Kayode's defection, something that has become a norm in the political space, he however, expressed displeasure that the former Aviation Minister used God to play political games.

He said, "Femi Fani kayode has said he was led by God in his decision to join APC, the party he once despised and vilified with passion. Wow!

"Don't bet your shirt on the politician. I don't begrudge any politician changing his political affiliation in line with his aspirations. After all, our politics is not a morality contest.

"My quarrel however is: why should a politician invoke God's name to validate his opportunism? Even an election rigger would claim that his victory is an act of God, but when his cook steals his money, he will call the police on him; he won't say it's an act of God. Nonsense!"

Kayode while defending his decision to join the APC, said during Channels Television programme, ‘Politics’, that he joined APC to achieve unity, peace and togetherness in Nigeria.

When asked to comment on the statement he made in 2015 against President Muhammadu Buhari, the outspoken Femi opined that: “There is a time to condemn and criticise people. There is also a time to come together, work together to achieve unity”.

“APC is a liberal party. Allot has happened in APC over the years. The party has changed and President has accommodated the change. Had the APC leadership not changed I wouldn’t have joined them.

“I am doing the right thing base on conviction and understanding. This is the right decision for me, love me or hate me, it will not take anything away from me.

“I spoke against Buhari from the outside, now I know him from the inside. I am not saying he is an angel or a demon. The APC I was taking about that time is not same today. Let’s focus on unity, peace and togetherness,” he said.
