Repentant Boko Haram terrorists |
Top Boko Haram commanders who surrendered to the Nigeria military have begged Nigerians for forgiveness.
In a statement signed by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the surrendered terrorists and their families numbered 335 fighters, 746 adult women and children including one of the abducted Chibok girls.
It was revealed that the surrendered terrorists will undergo a rehabilitation process at a government facility before reintegration into the larger society. The terrorists surrendered in Bama LGA of Borno State.
But Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, said he wondered if it was right for Buhari’s government to seek forgiveness for repentant Boko Haram commanders while prosecuting Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
In a tweet, the former presidential aide wrote: “The Buhari junta shared photos of so-called repentant Boko Haram and asked Nigerians to forgive them. Does it make sense to ask Nigerians to forgive people who killed innocent Nigerians when the Buhari regime wants to prosecute Igboho for protecting the innocent?”
