Jos Passengers Attack: Compensate families of victims — Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi tells Gov Lalong

A renowned Islamic scholar and leader of the Tijjaniya sect, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has called on the Plateau State Government to compensate the families of his followers who were killed in Jos on Saturday.

The cleric who stated this during an interview with BBC Hausa said those that killed the travellers, who were members of Tijjaniya sect, should be punished.

He however cautioned Muslims faithful against taking law into their own hands by engaging in reprisal attack.

Recall that about 90 travellers were attacked on Saturday while on their way to Ondo state, after attending an Islamic function in Bauchi state

According to reports, the travellers ran into Miango mourners, who were taking about 40 corpses from the Plateau Specialist Hospital, yesterday, around 9am for mass burial in their village, Miango.

Meanwhile, The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, had disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari fasted over the unfortunate incident. 

The minister made the disclosure in a special visit to convey the president’s condolences to the people.

He said, “The president had since directed that the perpetrators of the attack be fished out and prosecuted.

“He spoke with top military brass on the issue. He had just returned from a journey, and as matter of fact the president could not even eat food,” Pantami added.
