Buhari can end insecurity in the country if he wants to — Obi

Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Nnewi in Anambra State, Right Reverend Ndubuisi Obi, has said the pervading security challenges facing the country can be addressed if President Muhammadu Buhari wants to.

The bishop who made the statement in a chat with some journalists immediately after his bishop charge at the second session of the fourth Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Ohaji/Egbema in Imo State, also faults the arrest of leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, saying there are even more dangerous groups doing damages in the country, but the president seemed focused on Kanu whose cause is the product of an unfair system.

He said for President Buhari to be taken seriously, he must focus on meeting the expectations of the masses instead of causing more grievances through selective justice.

He said; "The president knows what to do, he can arrest the situation.”

‌The bishop said that the fact that the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu was at foreign country showed that government is insincere.

He said that if government wanted to arrest those behind insecurity in the land, it knows what to do in arresting them.

In a similar vein, the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, bishop Wole Oke, has said the Buhari government knows those terrorizing his people but seem to be in support of it for some reason.

“To us at the PFN, the Buhari’s government is not sincere in its alleged war against Boko Haram, killer herdsmen and other criminalities. Do we have to look beyond our shoulders for the sponsors of the mindless killings and bloodshed currently ravaging our country? The answer is no! The government knows them,” he said.

He also said he has for the first time, found himself praying for Buhari to be removed as President of the country for failing to end or at the least, curb insecurity in the country.

OKe who stated this during a vigil organised by his church, The Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Ibadan, said the position of the President is not more valuable than the life of a single Nigerian. He therefore, said if removing the President would save lives and restore peace, then it should be done.

He said, “The President should be removed if that would pave the way for the desired peace in the country.

“In the 1960s when Nigeria fought a civil war, the eastern part of the nation was the theatre of war.

“Sadly today, everywhere in Nigeria is a theater of war with much killings and bloodshed going on in the country every day.

“Some wicked people kidnapped some students and demanded N800m for their release; they killed them. The government did not lift a finger and you are telling me that the President has not failed. Buhari has failed.

“For the first time, I have found myself praying that God should remove Buhari.

“They kidnapped students without the government doing anything and you are telling me that the government has not failed. Are you saying we cannot move against an incompetent government whose security apparatus has collapsed?” Oke asked.
