I will rather not have SIM than giving my information to terrorist sympathiser, says Aisha

Human Rights activist and co-convener of #BringBackOurGirlsMovement, Aisha Yesufu, has insisted that she will not link her phone numbers to her National Identity Number (NIN) despite federal government’s order to do so to avoid disconnection of the mobile lines.

She said she prefer to "rather not have a phone line than willingly give my information and have it in the control of a terrorist sympathiser and his cohorts."

In a viral video recorded many years ago which was later confirmed by his lawyer, Michael Numa, Pantami was seen engaging the late Boko Haram leader, Mohammed Yusuf, in a public debate.

The minister initially denied the allegations but later admitted saying he supported the terrorists group ignorantly when he was young.

His confession did not go to down well with Nigerians as they call for his resignation or removal from the communication ministry as he cannot be trusted with the data of Nigerians, especially with the ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise under his watch.

Reacting in a tweet on Friday Aisha said, "Let me repeat categorically what I have said before. I WILL NOT BE LINKING MY NIN to my phone number! I will rather not have a phone line than willingly give my information and have it in the control of a terrorist sympathiser and his cohorts"
