Kano-based politician and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Alhaji Abdulmajid Dan Bilki, has accused former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, of turning President Muhammadu Buhari against those who helped him become President.
Bilki who made the statement in Kano while speaking with Daily Trust, also expressed disappointment that Buhari has turned his back against those who were loyal to him, and instead, listens to those fought against his political ambitions in the past.
Bilki's disaffection came following the suspension of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman, over corruption allegations.
Ms. Usman was suspended on May 6 and an administrative panel of inquiry had since been set up to probe her with a focus on N165.32 billion alleged to be unremitted to the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) by the NPA management under her leadership.
Bilki said the allegations against Hadiza Bala Usman, was nothing but a plan to oust another loyalist that had been in the support of Buhari, a move he said he will protest to the last step.
He said, “Hadiza Bala has been a strong northern force in this administration, she has been one of the only few APC members that have been pacifying loyalists in one way or the other.
“Rotimi Amaechi’s allegations against her are nothing but a selfish plot to oust her out for his personal and selfish gains. Therefore, as bonafide APC members, we condemn that move and call on President Buhari to reconsider his stand on the matter,” he said.
He further stressed that it was unfortunate that people with a questionable personality who had been allowed to hold strategic offices in Buhari’s administration were busy claiming the ‘Holier than thou’ role.
While assuring loyalists to continue to be patient, Dan Bilki called for the reinstatement of Ms. Usman and cautioned President Buhari against people, he termed as “Wolf in sheepskin”.
