An alternative to Facebook and Twitter is finally upon us following the aftermath of 2020 US election, which saw plenty of drama, twists, jubilation, fury, cancel culture and plenty of questions on what exactly, free speech is.
Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, leader of the most powerful country in the world, was kicked out of Facebook, Twitter and other prominent tech platforms, alongside those who share his beliefs, as it concern the credibility of the 2020 US election.
Not even immediate alternative, Parler, was able to survive the wrath of big techs who had their knives out following upheavals at the US Capitol on January 6th.
But things are about to change, as MyPillow founder Mike Lindell, a very close ally of former President Trump, and who was also canceled by big techs, will be unveiling his own social media platform called 'Frank'.
Lindell's platform is believed a conservative-focused social network, whose biggest rule is to not use 'God's name in vain.'
Developed in the months since the 2020 election, Lindell has described the project as a combination of “print, radio, and TV,” offering both text posts and live stream capability.
“People are going to have more followers,” Lindell said in a March interview with Steve Bannon, “10 times more followers,” as noted by The Verge.
In the more recent video, Lindell explained that the new network would still moderate against profanity and threats of violence — setting it apart from previous right-wing platforms like Parler and Gab, which prided themselves on their refusal to censor offensive speech.
“You don’t get to use the four swear words: the c-word, the n-word, the f-word, or God’s name in vain,” Lindell says in the video. Instituting that policy will present a significant challenge to conventional automated moderation programs, which are adept at identifying specific strings of text but have no system to distinguish between devout and profane invocations of God.
