Former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has reminded Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka of a comment he made against former President Goodluck Jonathan on December 3, 2014, accusing Jonathan of being “worse than Nebuchadnezzar”.
Using a screenshot from a 2014 article published by PUNCH, Omokri wonders whether Soyinka still feels the same way compared to the current government he helped brought to power.
In a post on his Facebook page, Omokri wrote:
I wonder if that is still his (Soyinka's) final answer:
- Especially as tens of thousands of his fellow Ogun states indigenes have relocated to Benin Republic on account of herdsmen.
- Especially as fuel has moved from ₦87 to ₦212
- And as the Naira has moved from ₦199 to $1 to ₦500 to $1
- And as Nigeria is more corrupt today than at anytime under Jonathan, according to Transparency International
- And as school abduction of young children is now a weekly occurrence
- And finally, as you can’t drive from one state to another without holding your ransom money and your transport fare.
Soyinka himself, has joined the wailing team by condemning the President for his indifferent attitude in the face of growing insecurity in the country. In fact, Soyinka even suggested that the country is now being governed by a ghost who's presence is only felt via statements through those he called "presidential megaphones".
