Just In: Mailafia was right, Boko Haram now operating within the country — Gov. Sule cries out

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has once again, raised alarm over the presence of Boko Haram in the state, saying they are now in border towns with Abuja, the nation’s capital.

This is the second time the governor was alerting on the regrouping of the Darussalam terrorists turned Boko Haram in Nasarawa State.

On January 22, 2021, Sule had told State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa that members of the Boko Haram sect were regrouping in the state and carrying out acts of violence.

Sule's concerns further vindicated former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia who last year, claimed that Boko Haram already infiltrate other parts of the country.

He said, “Some of us also have our intelligence networks. I have met with some of the bandits; we have met with some of their high commanders – one or two who have repented – they have sat down with us not once, not twice.

“They told us that one of the northern governors is the commander of Boko Haram in Nigeria. Boko Haram and the bandits are one and the same. They have a sophisticated network. During this lockdown their planes were moving up and down as if there was no lockdown."

“They are already in the South, in the rain forests of the South. They are everywhere," he added.

Obadiah's alarm however, which he probably had thought would be appreciated by the Buhari administration, only ended up putting him into trouble.

But speaking yesterday during an expanded security meeting at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital, Governor Sule said some bandits that were dislodged recently in Ottu, Toto local government area of the state, by security agencies have metamorphosed into Boko Haram and are found in three local government areas of the state.

“Unfortunately, a lot of them who had been members of Darusalam that have turned into Boko Haram, have now regrouped in places like Borkono, Kabusu, Panda, Paha Sha Biyar, Ambaka and Gidan Rai in Nasarawa, Karu and Wamba local government areas,” the governor stated.
