Your biggest mistake is to arrest Bishop Kukah — Sen Melaye warns Buhari

Dino Melaye, former senator who represented Kogi West in the 8th Senate, has warned that any attempt to arrest Bishop Hassan Kukah for speaking truth to power may ignite crisis in the country.

Melaye issued the warning in a tweet on Monday after some northern groups called on the federal government to arrest the catholic Bishop over alleged treason.

Recall that in his controversial message, Kukah accused President Muhammadu Buhari of nepotism and alleged that the president was presiding over a country with prospects of a failed state.

“Every honest Nigerian knows that there is no way any non-Northern Muslim President could have done a fraction of what President Buhari has done by his nepotism and gotten away with it.

“There would have been a military coup a long time ago or we would have been at war,” Kukah’s message read in part.

Reacting to such calls, Melaye wrote, “Arrest or try to embarrass Bishop Kukah and we will prove to you that Government is not owned by you but the people.

“They want to scare everybody. Ko jooooo (it’s not possible). Kill fear and speak the truth to power.”
