Senator Shehu Sani who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, has warmed the North against directing its vitriol on Catholic bishop, Matthew Kukah, whose controversial Christmas message, has caused disquiet and outrage within the Presidency and some parts of the country.
Kukah has become the target of rage over his statement accusing the Buhari administration of leading the country "into darkness" by "deliberately sacrificing the dreams of those who voted for him" to power.
Kukah then added saying, “Every honest Nigerian knows that there is no way any non-Northern Muslim President could have done a fraction of what President Buhari has done by his nepotism and gotten away with it.
“There would have been a military coup a long time ago or we would have been at war. The President may have concluded that Christians will do nothing and will live with these actions."
In a quick response, the Presidency warned Kukah against stigmatising the president, and also warned religious leaders in the country to “refrain from stoking the embers of hatred and disunity” which could “ trigger unintended consequences ”.
Sani however, is concerned that the North despite being in bad shape for years, is quick at ignoring its many problems by defending those who in reality, are responsible for their woes.

He wrote in a tweet, "My Dear Northern Youths; leave the Kukah in Sokoto and fight the Bandits in your shokoto."
Sani had previously advised Northern youths against becoming willing tools, saying they should not allow themselves be manipulated by their elites who are quick to use religion and region as shield whenever they are been called into account.
Like Kukah, Rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has also been targeted by fellow northerners over her criticism of the Buhari administration.
In a recently Facebook post, she noted that the North does not seem to care about the effects of Buhari's poor leadership on the region, but would rather attack anyone committed to fighting against injustice and for accountability from government.
She said, "Buhari's incompetence, cluelessness, corruption, ineptitude and failure is destroying your life and getting people kiIIed and all you are concerned about is that Aisha Yesufu calls Buhari incompetent, clueless, corrupt, inept and a failure? Are you well like this?"
