Former US vice president and projected president-elect in the November 3rd presidential election, Mr Joe Biden, has already broken his campaign promise to Americans barely a week since he was declared president-elect by the media.
Biden as noted by Brietbart News, has “pledge not to declare victory until the election is independently certified.”
During the first US Presidential Debate, Chris Wallace of Fox News, asked Biden, “Will you urge your supporters to stay calm while the vote is counted, and will you pledge not to declare victory until the election is independently certified?” asked Wallace of Biden at the first presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio.
“Yes,” answered Biden.
But he did quite the opposite last week after the media had declared him "president-elect". Biden even went further to make his victory speech, and since has his transition team up and running, all these while the election is yet to be certified, not until December 14th.
Biden perhaps, made the pledge out of an abundance of caution that he might end up on the losing side as such, will need to pursue legal action on the outcome of the election much like what President Trump is currently doing.
In an interview with her former aide Jennifer Palmieri on Showtime’s The Circus, some time in August, Ms Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee in 2016, she believes the Republicans are attempting to “mess up” mail-in voting to gain “a narrow advantage in the electoral college.”
She therefore advised that the democrats be ready to fight if the results come back too close to call.
"Joe Biden should not concede under any circumstances because I think this is going to drag out, and eventually I do believe he will win if we don't give an inch and if we are as focused and relentless as the other side is," Clinton said in the interview.
Speaking further, she said, “We've got to have a massive legal operation, I know the Biden campaign is working on that.
“We have to have poll workers, and I urge people, who are able, to be a poll worker. We have to have our own teams of people to counter the force of intimidation that the Republicans and Trump are going to put outside polling places. This is a big organizational challenge, but at least we know more about what they're going to do.”
Clinton said she thinks that the only way Trump could win re-election is “by either suppressing or stopping voting, or outright intimidating people into feeling that they have to go with the strong guy to stand up against all these threats that Trump is going to gin up to scare people.”
However, as it would turn out, Trump is the one crying foul as he accuses the democrats of doing the exact same thing they had claimed the Republicans would do.
It is therefore plausible, that Biden's pledge to not declare victory until the election is certified, is based on the premise of Ms Clinton's previous call.
