Shehu Sani, former senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th senate, has disagreed with Hisbah police over use of 'black Friday'.
Sani said instead of looking for ways to protect the region from bandits invasion, the sheriah security outfit chooses to focus on what he described as "nonsensical" threat on the use of the phrase ‘Black Friday’.
Recall that Kano State Hisbah Board had earlier on Friday ordered Cool FM to stop mentioning ‘Black Friday’ on air.
The board stated that Friday is a day Muslims consider holy.
The warning letter was addressed to the General Manager of the media company.
It was signed by Principal Executive Officer II, Abubakar Ali, on behalf of Hisbah Commander-General.
The memo said the Islamic security outfit received complaints regarding Black Friday sales on November 27, 2020.
Cool FM was informed that “the majority of the inhabitants of Kano State are Muslims that consider Friday as holy day”.
But reacting on Twitter, Sani said the name does not in any way affect the Muslim prayer day.

He tweeted, “Friday is our sacred day of prayer as Muslims. Whatever colour is added to it doesn’t matter. Hisbah’s threats against the phrase ‘Black Friday’ is nonsensical.
