Armed robbery, kidnappings have reduced since #EndSARS protests began, says Adeyanju

Human rights activist, Comrade Deji Adeyanju, has said that reports of widespread armed robbery and kidnappings across the country has reduced drastically since the #EndSARS protests began.

He stated this in a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday which attract a lot of reactions from Nigerians.

The post read, "Who else noticed since the protests started no widespread report of armed robbery, kidnapping, etc? Are you guys thinking what I’m thinking? # EndSARS.

Nigerians have been on the streets for over a week protesting against police brutality in the country.

The protesters, who have taken over major roads in the country, have vowed not to leave the streets until there is an improvement in governance.

Corroborating with his statement, Nigerians on his Facebook page reacted saying:

Ebeneezer Olaniyan: "The ways and manners government run the affairs of this country attract all such of criminality. If government can do d needful, crime rate will definitely reduce. People were striving hard to survived in this country. Haaaa. Water flow from my eyes!!

Andrew Ikuenobe Aluge: "I actually thought of it this morning whilst in the shower. They are busy helping with the protest and so shall it be till we get our freedom"

Sulaiman Segun Awotunde: "Yes because armed robbers, kidnappers and bandits could not get to hire guns from our corrupt policemen as usual. Those policemen doing that are now on strike due to the unending # endsars protests by the youths which they fear will expose them all.

This protest must continue to dig deeper into other sectors most especially Senate and Reps. We can't afford that their Jimbo pay anymore.

Jason Ehikioya: "Very true, no robbery, kidnappings, task force intimidation, LASMA victimization, all av reduced to almost zero. Our Security operatives are our security problems."

AbdulRahman Enemona Musa: "Yes its true cos all d bad guys have also joined us on the street. I pray that this should be their turning point for good"

Ogbonnaya Stephen: "An idle mind is a devil's workshop. The armed robbers are not happy doing the work they do, it's due to frustration. It's not the desire of anybody to risk his life but because of no job. If you can eat three times a day, nobody can influence you to risk your life for money by joining armed robbery gang or kidnapping. A sane government should reduce the salaries of politicians and create jobs for the common people.

Nji E. Nji: "E be like say na this SARS People be the Armed Robbers and the Kidnappers o......

They have been recalled, disarmed and banned. Hence, the society is breathing a fresh air.

Or

In another twist, may be one powerful Man somewhere has called his boys "Robbers & Kidnappers" to order because the people have decided to become their own security.

Those protesters are ready to foil robbery and kidnapping, so all of them dey behave themselves."

Joshua Akanni: "Citizens are busy with the protest and even the provision of refreshments for them is another reason for them not to steal ....... nobody go think of stealing when there if food ......it the lack of basic needs of life that encourage people to indulge into criminal acts"

Orduada Alvin: "It's because the youths have awaken and now have direction, everyone are tired of corruption, SARS were responsible for several criminal activities in the country!"
