All Nigerians are asking for, is a country that values their lives — Jonathan reacts to ongoing protests

Former president Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the ongoing protests in country, saying both sides of the divide should exercise restraint in their struggles for a better Nigeria.

The former president who made the statement on his Official Facebook page on Tuesday, said the struggle though noble, does not have to involve the spilling of blood.

He said, "No Nigerian blood needs to be spilled or life lost during a peaceful protest that seeks to advance our country. We may hold different views on national issues, but there is no doubt that most people desire the same thing for Nigeria: a place where we can all live out the full potential of our God-given abilities. I implore everyone to exercise restraint as we walk through these challenging times."

Nigerians have been on the streets in protest over the brutalities and harassment of innocent citizens by the officials of Federal Special Anti-robbery Sqad (FSARS), in the country.

Although the Buhari administration through the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, has on Sunday announced the disbandment of SARS, protest still persists over other issues Nigerians want to be addressed such as insecurity, Police reform, bad governance among others.
