Account for the N16bn you spent on power — APC tells Obasanjo

The All Progressives Congress has asked former President Olusegun Obasanjo to account for the N16bn power spending during his reign.

The party also asked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to account for the sale of national assets during the privatisation programme of their administration.

APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, in a statement, said political actors who allegedly midwifed national rot can’t chart the way forward for the country.

“It is baffling that the same political actors that midwifed and institutionalised the national rot, corruption, impunity and eroding of our value systems are the same characters posing as voices on the way forward in our national life. How ironic!

Meanwhile, Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on Sunday described former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a one-time good president who saved Nigeria during his tenure.

He said even though him and the former president are not on the same page politically but he has to say the truth that Obasanjo meant well for country.

Fayose said this while agreeing with Obasanjo that Nigeria is becoming a failed state and can crumble if nothing urgent is done to address the country challenges under President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fayose said, “Of all the Presidents, I don’t like Obasanjo ways, I tell you the truth; I don’t like his ways at all. Me and him we are not on the same page but Obasanjo is the only one - time Nigerian President that has helped this country here and there.

“The fact remains that if you look at the Obasanjo time, there are certain things he put in place and don’t forget, he saved this country a lot of money. He saved this country a lot of money. These people have squandered all we have. The way Obasanjo brought it down, they have taken it up.
