Borno: 10 Nigerian soldiers killed in Boko Haram ambush as Buratai claim Nigeria is safer than before

Atleast 10 Nigerian soldiers have been kiIIed and several others missing after an ambush by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State.

The attack took place along the Maiduguri-Damboa Highway on Saturday.

It is believed that the soldiers were attached to 25 Task Force Brigade, Damboa, according to a report by Sahara.

Damboa, 85km South of Maiduguri, has been one of the most attacked local government headquarters in Borno State.

The troops were returning from patrol and clearance operation against the insurgents when they came under at*ack, according to a security source.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, had said that Nigeria is safer now than it was five years ago.

He made the remarks on Sunday during a sit-out with soldiers Wou*ded In Action (WIA).

He said, “I am proud you have made the impact that some of our colleagues and Nigerians are safe and I am equally happy that we are living in peace and Nigeria is Safer now than we had five years ago,” he said.
