If the North failed the Almajiris they bred, the South should embrace them and show the North how to raise children — Prince Augustine

A post shared by one Prince Augustine on a Facebook group, APC AGENDA, has generated reactions following his suggestion that some Almajiri children from the North, should be accepted and properly raised by the South.


In support of his suggestion, Mr Augustine said the children did nothing wrong, but are the victims of parental and leadership failure in the Northern part of the country.

He said, "The Almajiris have been an issue that remains unresolved in Nigeria. Instead of the North to take responsibility to look after these children, they have been thrown out of the North as an unwanted group of people.



"You may not agree with me, but I think the South should accept the children, isolate them amid #covid19 outbreak and give them a better life. This, I believe is a way forward so that the rogue and incompetent leaders in the North are shown how to look after the human resources they impoverished and rejected.

"It is important to remember that these children have done nothing wrong, but are all a victim of bad governance in Northern Nigeria.




"These are the children of the very poorest in the North. If we do nothing, many of them will die helplessly and those who survive among them will surely help to fan the flame of Boko Haram, Kidnappings, Armed Robbery, etc.

"It is not an impossible task to show humanity and take responsibility for these set of forsaken Nigerians.



"Let's give them education, feed and clothe them and I believe they will grow to become responsible leaders of tomorrow."
