COVID-19: Allah has answered our prayers — Gov Mohammed


The number of covid-19 cases in the country may have been rising rapidly and now nears 7000 confirmed cases, governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State however, disclosed that the State is winning the battle against the deadly disease as recorded cases in the State has significantly reduced.

This drop in number of cases according to the governor, is as a result of concerted efforts made by covid-19 taskforce in the state.


The governor while addressing stakeholders at a meeting on Wednesday in Bauchi, said “Allah in his infinite mercy has made this thing to nose-dive and today, we have the least number of those in hospitals compared to those that have been discharged and from all indications, Allah has answered our prayers”, he said.

While announcing the lifting of the lockdown order in the state, Bala said the order was not deliberate or meant to punish anybody, but an attempt to curtail the spread of the virus amongst the people.



Meanwhile, global numbers of covid-19 cases has continued to rise and now surpassed 5 million cases since the index case was first reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019. So far, over 2 million recoveries and 330,000 deaths has also been reported.

The United States remains atop the list of most affected countries with about 1.6 million cases and 95,000 deaths.


Russia soared to second place with over 300,000 reported cases, followed by Brazil with 294,000, Spain with 279,500, and the UK coming 5th with 248,000 cases.

In Nigeria however, Lagos State continues to stay top with 2954 cases.
