Buhari disgraces Onochie over appointment claims

If you find it difficult to believe that Femi Adesina, who is currently serving as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, would become a changed man after 2023, then you're living in your own world.

It's nothing new that political appointees are generally hired to do their master's bidding, even if it means playing dirty.


Like in our recent post were it was revealed that all the hatred the late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari, endured till his last breathe, was all because he chose to become a loyal servant.

It wasn't the first time president Muhammadu Buhari was accused of appointing dead people into his government, but in each of his previous errors, his aides were quick to defend the President's action. So, the recent response by his aides following a similarly error, should come as no surprise.



Buhari had appointed late Tobias Chukwuemeka Okwuru in error as member of the Federal Character Commission, FCC. Late Tobias before his death at the age of 59, represented Ezza south/Ikwo federal constituency, in Ebonyi state.

However, following reactions on the President's latest goof, his aide on Social Media, Mrs Lauretta Onochie, responded in defence of the president saying no error was made in Tobias' appointment since he was alive when his name was taken.

But, the deceased nominee was said to have died in February, long enough for the president to be aware and make necessary changes before the list was made public.



While Mrs Onochie chose to play dirty, the president however, admitted his error and is now demanding that the nominee be replaced, in a letter to the Senate on Tuesday.

Below is part of the letter read in the hallowed chamber:

“In compliance with the Provision of Section 156(1) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I write to request for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of the following four nominees as members of the Federal Character Commission as replacement of my earlier submission for Delta, Ebonyi, Lagos and Nasarawa States”.
