INEC headquarters in Abuja on fire

INEC headquarters
The headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Abuja is reportedly gutted by fire.

According to Vanguard, the fire started minutes before noon and personnel of the Federal Fire Service had already mobilized to the scene in an effort to out out the inferno.

This followed after the imposing multi-storey edifice housing the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), which is also referred to as ‘Treasury House’ in Abuja, suffered a fire out break in the past week, at the peak of the lockdown of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Most hit was the payments processing section of the building where Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) is located. The timing of the fire incident was queried by observers as it occurred in less than 24 hours after the Senate commenced investigations of the OAGF over matters connected with the Integrated Payroll Payment Information System (IPPIS).

The most recent fire outbreak in a series of fire incident on Government buildings in Abuja prior to that of INEC office, is that of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

Nigerians are left with suspicions that the Buhari administration is up to something as it tries to cover up its corrupt dealings.
