Good News for Shekau as Nigeria Military express readiness to accept his offer

The war against terrorism may gradually be coming to a close as reports continue to claim leader of the terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau, is finally ready to surrender.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the Nigerian Military says it will readily accept Shekau's offer to surrender on the condition he follows the laid down procedures for surrendering during conflict or war.

The Coordinator of the Directorate of Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General John Enenche, disclosed this on Friday during an interview on Channels TV “Shekau’s recently released videos are subjected to forensic analysis.

"There are rumours that they are ready to surrender. If the insurgents truly want to surrender, there is a procedure to do that. If he (Shekau) surrenders through the procedure, we will accept it,” he said.

It would be recalled that the Military authorities recently said that with the grand offensive mounted by the Armed Forces of Nigeria against Boko Haram and the Islamic State for West African Province (ISWAP), the body language of Shekau, is that of surrender.

Boko Haram had in a recent attack, caught the Army Special Super Camp by surprise at Ngamdu, a border town between Borno and Yobe where Gen. Buratai had relocated to finalize his strategy on ending the activities of the insurgents once and for all.

The daring atta¢k by the insurgents come barely 72 hours after the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Buratai sent a damning message to defeat the insurgents within a very short.

Buratai had at the 2020 Special Easter celebration with the troops at the Camp promised to stay with them until the insurgents are “substantially degraded”.
